Frontier Developments has announced that Elite Dangerous: Beyond Chapter 4 will be out on December 11.
“Beyond - Chapter Four is headlined by two new ships, a new discovery system for exploration, advanced mining techniques, additional multiplayer options, plus more.”, the developer said in a press release. The new ships are versatile Krait Phantom alongside the fast and deadly Mamba.
Beyond - Chapter Four will add a new Analysis Mode, changing the way players explore the galaxy. “After an initial scan of the system, players will then be able to tune their scanners to find stellar bodies and other phenomena. Not only is this new system a more realistic, satisfying and engaging exploration experience, but also provides players with the freedom to make more informed decisions on where to look next, and be ultimately better rewarded for time spent exploring.”. Players will also have access to probes which help with mapping planetary surfaces and rings.
New mining tools are also making their way into the game, as are Squadrons, which are “a new in-game way of uniting like-minded Commanders to support factions of their choice, take part in Community Goals together and compete for top spots in weekly leaderboards. “ Squadrons will have their own in-game chat channels alongside new communication tools for coordonating galaxy-wide activities.
The Beyond season, Elite’s third, comes to a close with the release of Chapter 4 on December 11. Said to be “the biggest Elite Dangerous update of the year”, it will be available for free to all owners of the sprawling space sim on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
