Enlisted, entered open beta at a time when squad-based MMO shooters set during World War II aren’t all that widespread. The period, however, has also had plenty of mainstream attention, which could see the game appealing both to niche and mainstream audiences. This begs the question of whether or not it will release on Steam at some point in the future.
Six years after its original announcement, Enlisted hasn’t made its way to Steam. Open beta access is currently only available through a separate launcher that can be downloaded from the game’s website. But while those users adamant about sticking just to Valve’s storefront can’t yet access the game, some hope remains.
Other titles from publisher Gaijin Entertainment, like War Thunder and CRSED: F.O.A.D. have made it to Steam in the past. The latter is also developed by the same studio behind Enlisted.
While both the developer and the publisher have kept relatively silent on the subject of an Enlisted Steam release, here’s what they said in a Q&A from June 2020: “Currently, we plan to distribute the game via the Gaijin launcher, but it is too early to announce any agreements with other platforms.”
More recently, forum moderator JagdEnte said that an Enlisted Steam release “wont happen till after OBT release.”
While this likely means that the game isn’t ready to move beyond its own launcher just yet, we could very well see it arriving on Valve’s storefront at some point further down the line. If you’ve yet to give it a shot, you can download Enlisted from its website and hop into its open beta.
