Portal Knights developer Keen Games today unveiled Enshrouded as its next project. Blending action-RPG and survival game elements, the title puts players in the role of a Flameborn tasked with surviving the harsh world of Embervale, which has been overrun by a creeping blight called the Shroud.
Enshrouded pits you against a variety of mutated foes as you explore “lush forests, unyielding deserts, deep fissures, and lost dungeons of the land.” As revealed in the trailer below, you do so using your trusty two feet alongside tools like a grappling hook or a rather medieval wingsuit.
Wielding either a sword and shield, bow, or staff, you take on punishing bosses as you push further. A “deep open skill tree” lets you improve your character’s mastery of different weapons, spells, and armor.
Although it seems to play a major role, combat isn’t everything in Enshrouded. You also get to “shape the world’s terrain and unleash their creativity to build bases and epic homes,” being able to customize them using different materials and furniture.
In addition, you can also discover long-lost recipes or awaken legendary artisans, allowing you to unlock advanced workshops alongside the ability to craft unique items and mythic weapons.
Enshrouded is set to launch on PC at some point in 2023 and will first become available through Steam Early Access. You can watch it in action in its reveal trailer below.
