Understanding how to collect runes in Enshrouded is a crucial component of the game’s progression system. It not only enhances your character’s power but also provides the flexibility to respec and alter your playstyle.
While you’ll probably acquire your first set of Enshrouded runes early in the game, determining the most efficient source for them can be challenging. These runes, despite being used quite frequently, can be more elusive than initially thought.
How to Collect Runes in Enshrouded
So far, we’ve discovered two relatively reliable methods of collecting runes in Enshrouded. The first involves salvaging weapons that you find while journeying through Embervale.
To do so, simply right-click on a weapon in your inventory and select the Salvage option. The number next to it shows how many runes you’ll obtain. If there is no number, you won’t receive any runes.
Not all weapons seem to yield the material and you may want to hold onto them in case one of Enshrouded’s nastier foes jumps you while exploring.
A far more reliable source of Enshrouded runes comes from defeating monsters in fog-covered areas. From our experience, while you may not obtain the material from every enemy defeated, encountering enemies is more likely than finding salvageable weapons. This makes the process of farming them faster.
Enshrouded’s runes act as a currency used to enhance weapons at any of the Blacksmith NPCs. Aside from increasing their base damage, doing so also unlocks both offensive and defensive enhancements that can give you an edge in battle.
Furthermore, you’ll need the material if you ever want to respec your character at a Flame Altar and try out different builds.
That is what we know so far about how to collect runes in Enshrouded. We have several articles explaining other parts of the game, such as the maximum number of bases, dedicated server support, and obtaining bonemeal.
