Learning how to craft the glider in Enshrouded equips you with a useful tool that helps reduce the number of deaths caused by falling into well-concealed pits while also helping you reach your objectives quicker.
Enshrouded’s glider counts among the first items you get to craft shortly after you awaken at the start of the game. To unlock it, you simply need to follow the main objective that tasks you with setting up your first camp and constructing a workbench.
How to Craft the Glider in Enshrouded
Once completed, interact with the workbench and scroll down until you reach the Survival section. Selecting the glider opens up a menu that describes its stats alongside the materials you’ll need to craft it. Here’s what you’ll need to track down:
- 8 shroud wood
- 2 animal fur
- 2 string
- 2 shroud spores
Both shroud wood and shroud spores can be obtained from fog-covered areas which you’ll find strewn across the map. For the former, you’ll have to chop down trees inside these zones. The latter drops from corrupted enemies which are hard to miss.
Although this sounds straightforward, you can only spend a limited amount of time inside these areas due to the Enshrouded mechanic whose timer begins to tick down as soon as you set foot inside.
For animal fur, you can either answer the call of your inner hunter and set out to brutally murder some of the local wildlife, hostile or not. In addition, the bandits found in camps around the Springlands biome also occasionally drop it.
Lastly, string is the easiest material to track down when crafting your glider in Enshrouded. Simply collect plant fiber from nearby vegetation, enter the manual crafting menu, and find its entry in the Resources section. You’ll need three pieces of plant fiber to make one piece of string.
The starting area should have more than enough. Any surplus you might gather can go towards obtaining the grappling hook, whose movement abilities complement the glider’s.
After you’ve crafted your glider, make sure to equip it in its dedicated slot by going to the character tab (default key N). From that point on, you can press the Spacebar while falling to automatically deploy it.
As mentioned above, it can certainly save you from falling to your death when a pack of wolves chases you and you suddenly run out of ground. It also helps navigate large chasms if you deploy it from a higher point of the map.
Just keep in mind that the glider uses stamina, so make sure you have enough before deploying it, unless you simply want to look badass for a few seconds before plummetting to your death.
Enshrouded Advanced Glider
Enshrouded’s Advanced Glider becomes available for crafting at the Carpenter NPC after you learn how to obtain linen. It requires the following materials:
- 6 shroud wood
- 4 linen
- 4 string
- 8 shroud sack
Given how it’s a clear improvement over its basic counterpart, thanks to increased range and speed stats, you will eventually want to track down these resources and go for the upgrade.
That covers how to craft your glider, whether basic or advanced, in Enshrouded. For more on the survival game, dive into its list of recruitable NPCs and learn whether its world is handcrafted or procedurally generated.
