This grappling hook not only speeds up your journey but also ensures safer travel, as it enables quick escapes through various grappling points. You will need it to find some of the secret weapons and materials for your camp, as some areas are only accessible with it.
How to Unlock the Grappling Hook in Enshrouded
To obtain one for your Flameborn, you need to construct your initial Workbench. This can be done right after you awaken and arrive at the site designated for your first camp.
The workbench requires 3 strings and 8 wood logs, meaning you’ll have to gather plant fiber from small plants you can pick up and then assert your dominance over several standard trees with your trusty Axe.
Once you’ve set up a workbench, interacting with it opens up a new list of items you can craft. In the survival tab, you’ll find the Enshrouded grappling hook. To craft it, you will require the following resources:

A string is crafted manually from plant fiber using the default crafting menu, accessible anywhere in the field without the need for a smithy or workbench. Locating the remaining two resources, however, presents a slightly more challenging task.

Shroud Spores are obtained by defeating corrupted enemies in fog-covered areas, known as the Enshrouded. Caution is advised in this Biome, as they typically come with a 5-minute countdown to death, but you can find potions and special shrines that will extend the time or give you a reset.
One such small patch of land can be found to the north of where you set up your first camp, close to a bridge, but there’s no shortage of them across the rest of the world.
Once you’ve gathered the necessary resources, proceed to a workbench to craft the Enshrouded grappling hook. Ensure you equip it in its designated slot within your inventory, which will enable you to use it for crossing chasms. It doesn’t automatically get equipped once you create it, so keep that in mind if it isn’t working when you get to a grappling location.
To use the grappling hook, press ‘E’ when you are near specific grappling points, which can be challenging to identify until the prompt appears on your screen. They’re often very high up, so keep a lookout.
