Epic Games Store has just received its September update, and it’s a big boon for those who felt its Library game view was inadequate. The update also deployed further patch size optimisations, which will come in handy for those with slower Internet speeds.
The Library view’s most prominent addition is the option to view games in a list, as well as filter, search, and sort your purchases. Epic also noted that further improvements are coming, and they’ve asked for users to continue providing useful feedback.
As we mentioned above, Epic Store users who don’t enjoy high Internet speeds will be most thankful for patch size optimisations: “We’ve rolled out new tooling for partners that allows them to create further optimized patches. If you’re a player with a low bandwidth connection, this benefits you because these optimized patches dramatically reduce the patch download size,” said Epic. According to their data, this development allowed them to reduce the latest Fortnite patch size by a whooping 60%.
Another important addition is the new playtime tracking, which can be checked out via each game’s specific Settings menu. On the Store side of things, Epic has also added game bundle support, as well as announcing an all-new Storefront featuring curated game collections and more.
We’ve not heard of new Epic exclusives for some time now, but you can reference a full list of exclusive game releases on the Epic Store here. For more information on exclusivity pricing, we did get some info from Remedy and Control, who received 1/3 of the game’s development costs for the deal.
