Far Cry New Dawn doesn't pull many punches, and though it's a direct continuation of Far Cry 5's rather bleak finale, the game somehow manages to make things that much worse when you figure out the implications it throws around - such as with the Far Cry New Dawn Judge
The Judge is a particularly ominous presence in the game, who is never overtly explained, but if you keep track of what's being said by other characters, as well as their reactions to the Judge, it becomes obvious who he is. Here's what we know, and how to recruit him to your side.
Who is the Judge in Far Cry New Dawn?
If you've played New Dawn, chances are that you've already enlisted the help of Eden's Gate, the primary antagonists faced in Far Cry 5. The particularly ominous figure of the ever-mute Judge greets you first, and eventually becomes a companion of yours. Now, if you go to the bunker where the protagonist of Far Cry 5 and Joseph Seed, the leader of the cult, were trapped after bombs fell, you'll find a number of curious notes.
These notes, implied to be written by the Deputy from Far Cry 5, the protagonist, are following: "If I listen to you, it's good, and right, and I can help, and I can save people, and make it right, and everything will be okay. If I judge as your judge, the judgment is right and just, the judgment is God's Word. I see now. I am so sorry."
The most telling note spells outright who the Judge is: "Please give me a mask I am afraid."
There you have it, folks. Joseph Seed - always a bastard - managed to brainwash the protagonist of Far Cry 5 completely, turning him into the mute Judge character who helps you out in New Dawn. How about that?
How to Recruit the Far Cry New Dawn Judge
As for recruiting the tragic Judge to your cause, you certainly can as Judge is one of the 8 recruitable "Guns For Hire" AI partners you can have by your side. Simply play through the story unless you have rescued Joseph Seed from his sanctuary, and the New Eden group are on your side. Joseph will insist that the Judge accompany you in taking down the Highwaymen.
The Judge is a stealth ally, and can take any enemy out without being detected. After 15 kills, animals won't attack you when the Judge is with you. And after 40 kills, the Judge will let loose three arrows at a target, which should destroy any opponent.
