Fortnite well and truly is a gift that keeps on giving. If reading the title gave you a distinct impression that you're in an episode of the Twilight Zone, we've got bad news: this is real world, and we just have to face the fact that couples are undergoing Fortnite divorces.
According to a press release from a UK-based divorce website, just about 5% of total legal separations in the UK since the beginning of the year have been due to one of the partner's Fortnite addiction.
The website in question had received about 200 divorce petitions since the 1st of January 2018 that have referenced Fortnite as one of the reasons for the separation. It is worth mentioning that, though Fortnite is the sole specifically-referenced video game in this document, there are mentions of other online gaming services as well.
In general, it would seem that going overboard with video games means that your relationships will suffer, which is a pretty safe thing to assume no matter how you look at it, though it is interesting to see just how big of a social phenomenon Fortnite has become by now.
Having said all of this, be sure to game responsibly, take note of your partners, and don't get suckered in if you're spending some real bucks on V-Bucks!
