Have you ever thought about founding your very own Roman Empire? If you have, you're in luck, because Rise of the Republic, the upcoming campaign expansion pack for Total War: Rome II is going to let you do just that.
This prequel story of one of the greatest empires ever known to Man is set in the year of 399 BC, with Rome as the centrepiece of it all. Rise of the Republic will depict the events that would eventually lead to the Second Founding of Rome, as well as some time beyond, and the young Republic will either survive or die trying as history is weaved.
"Rise of the Republic’s super-detailed campaign map depicts the landmass of Italy and its neighbours, and introduces nine playable factions including Rome, the great city-state of Syracuse, and the ambitious Gallic tribe of the Senones." Each of the playable factions will also have unique bonuses to be employed using Government Actions, and will have to face their own, region-specific issues that have been based on real historical events.
Alongside Rise of the Republic, which will release on 9th of August for €16.99, the base game will receive the much-touted Ancestral Update free of charge!
This update will, of course, include various gameplay fixes, tweaks and changes, but the main feature will be that of the Family Tree, which players will be able to access to check familial relations of all the relevant characters in the game, as well as various additional functionality. This will include but not be limited to interaction with other historical personalities and forging personal and political relationships as time goes on.
The Ancestral Update is available now via the game's Beta branch, which is accessible through core Steam functionality, under the properties of Total War: Rome II. If you're excited enough to playtest some features, this is the way to do so!
