Publisher and developer Frontier Developments has announced its collaboration with Bulgarian developer Haemimont Games on an unannounced project that's expected to release "in two to three years' time".
The collaboration is the first publishing partnership under the Frontier Publishing initiative, which is meant to establish external partnerships as "an important element" of Frontier's plans going forward.
Frontier and Haemimont Collaboration
Established in 1997, developer Haemimont Games is known for several titles in the Tropico series as well as the more recent Surviving Mars. The collaboration will see Frontier providing development funding and handling marketing and distribution of the upcoming, unannounced game.
"This is a strong start for Frontier Publishing - we're delighted to partner with a studio of the quality of Haemimont. Our Frontier Publishing initiative helps us to further expand our game portfolio through external development partnerships that supplement our own internal development roadmap. We are in discussions with other developers and hope to be able to announce further publishing partnerships in the future.", said Frontier CEO David Braben.
While we don't know much else about the unannounced video game in question, it's worth keeping in mind that both Frontier and Haemimont have dabbled, and quite succesfully, into the simulation genre. Unless they decide to tread completely new ground, it's possible that we'll see some form of simulator released as result of their collaboration.
In the meantime, Frontier has recently announced the release date of Planet Zoo, while Surviving Mars' Green Planet DLC offers ways of terraforming the Red Planet.
