Brightrock Games’ sci-fi hospital management simulator, Galacticare, is set to be released on the 23rd of May on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.
If you’ve been following Brightrock Games, you’ll remember its successful release of War for the Overworld, an unofficial spiritual successor to Dungeon Keeper. Now, the team appears to have set its sights on adapting another Bullfrog classic, Theme Hospital, by giving it a sci-fi twist in space.
War for the Overworld was the game that most closely adhered to the true Dungeon Keeper formula, although the Dungeons series also takes a decent shot at it. Since its release, we’ve been eagerly awaiting to see the work Brightrock Games has been doing with Galacticare, and are pleasantly surprised to see it launching so soon.
As the Director of Galacticare, it’s your responsibility to cure the different conditions (49, to be exact) afflicting the minds and bodies of the galaxy’s various alien populations.
Equip your hospitals with specialist rooms, bioluminescent grubs, and top-notch doctors, controlling every detail to run the most successful hospital in space. The game will feature unique species with specific needs and traits, doctors with their quirks, and consultants with expansive skill trees.
Two Point Hospital and Theme Hospital sound like the closest matches for Galacticare, and we’re looking forward to seeing if it shares any of the dark humour we’re familiar with from those games when it launches on Steam and consoles on the 23rd May.
