Ghostbusters: The Videogame Remastered is out now, and so anyone who wanted to try the erstwhile Ghostbusters 3 before it was delisted from Steam can now do so. However, the one thing missing from the original PC version was the console version's co-op. Is there Ghostbusters Remastered multiplayer?
The Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of Ghostbusters: The Videogame came with a co-op multiplayer component, which had missions separate from the main campaign - and was the only place where players could take on the roles of the official four Ghostbusters, as the main campaign puts them in the role of a nameless Rookie. The multiplayer was cut out of the PC version, however - does the Remastered version correct this oversight - or is it available later
Is Ghostbusters Remastered multiplayer included at launch?
The Ghostbusters: The Videogame multiplayer was a fun extra to the main campaign, when it came out in 2009. It allowed up to four players - taking on the roles of the core Ghostbusters crew of Egon, Venkman, Ray, and Winston - to work together in a sort of ghost capturing horde mode. It was pretty entertaining, and as mentioned - it was the only way to play the main Ghostbusters in the game.
The original PC version inexplicably had the online multiplayer mode stripped out, so fans were really hoping that the Remastered version of Ghostbusters: The Videogame would correct this crime. Sadly, that is not the case, as we can confirm there is no Ghostbusters Remastered multiplayer - it's just the single-player campaign. For now...!
Is Ghostbusters Remastered multiplayer coming later?
Yes! Maybe. Well, at least port developer Saber Interactive promised back in August that it was "reworking" the multiplayer - and it would make the co-op component available as a free update some time after launch.
However, there is currently no word when that will be - and most importantly, no word on whether that'll include the PC version on the Epic Games Store. The Steam version missed out on multiplayer - will we get the new Ghostbusters Remastered online co-op patch? Let's hope so - we've waited ten years, after all.
