Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed has been announced as the latest game from developer IllFonic, who shared the first detalis about its release date and how it plays. The project was repeatedly teased last year and joins the developer’s roster of asymmetrical multiplayer titles.
Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed puts four players in the role of ghostbusters who must track down one ghost who is up to no good. As the former, you get to use Proton Packs, Ghost Traps, and PKE Meters to track down the ghost, blast it with streams from your Particle Throwers, and trap it, all before it scares too many citizens and completes its goal of haunting different locations.
The lone ghost, gets to terrorize helpless citizens but can also fly and teleport between rifts spread across maps. It also has the ability to possess objects, slime its opponents, and summon minions.
When Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed’s release date comes around, players also get to visit the Firehouse, where they can customize their character, regardless if fleshy or spectral in nature, upgrade equipment and abilities.
Winston Zeddemore, voiced by Ernie Hudson, grants missions before you head out into the field, while Dan Aykroyd’s Ray Stantz is “ready to hand down some busting wisdom at Ray’s Occult Books.”
