UPDATE, September 12: Despite the new box art for the game, Halo 5 PC is still not happening. Microsoft has responded to rumours that Halo 5: Guardians will appear on PC, and confirmed that no, it's not happening, and the publisher has no plans to do it. Gee, thanks Microsoft.
A Microsoft spokesman spoke to CNET and told them "As we've shared previously, we do not have plans to launch Halo 5: Guardians on Windows 10 PC." They've been saying this since 2016 but we really hoped they'd changed their minds by now.
So... Halo: Master Chief Collection PC first, then?
Original Story, September 10: Here's something you couldn't have expected to hear this morning: Halo 5 might just be making its way to PC. No, really, we're not even joking, though the rumour is yet to be corroborated by anything other than ample amounts of jumping to conclusions.
People are getting the idea that there might be something cooking in regards to the Halo franchise and its logical, yet never truly realised home on PC. The image above illustrates the brunt of this latest argument.
You might be wondering what even is there to go on, but eagle-eyed aficionados have noticed that the new box design for Halo 5 is virtually the same as that of games that have already been released on PC via Microsoft's UWP. It is a stretch, yes, but there just might be something to it.
Quantum Break, for example, had no 'PC' designation on its box, either, but it still made its way to our favourite platform no problem. Or, rather, that depends on your view of the UWP, which is definitely going to be how Halo 5 gets released on PC, if it ever happens.
Since there's not much more info to go on, there's little more to say than - keep a close eye on Game Watcher to see if we get any more concrete info on Halo 5's PC release. In the meantime, check out what it'll be competing with, if it happens!
