ConcernedApe’s Haunted Chocolatier is the next game from Stardew Valley creator Eric Barone, seeing players trade a life of working the land for that of a chocolate-making shopkeeper.
Although it has a different premise and was built from scratch, the game does feature a handful of similar elements to its predecessor, including that of exploring a new town, meeting the townsfolk, and deciding who on its character list deserves your attention.
Haunted Chocolatier is fairly early in development but, while it’ll be a while before we get to explore the halls of its haunted castle and make lots of chocolate, we did get a glimpse of the first names on its character list.
- Lily
- Burk
- Maddie
- Jett
- Dr. Tungsten
- Nigel
Haunted Chocolatier Character List
Before getting to the NPCs on Haunted Chocolatier’s character list, it’s worth noting that player character customization is also confirmed to return.
The names below don’t make up an exhaustive list and more will likely be shared as we get closer to launch, but that hasn’t stopped members of the community from picking favorites and wondering if we might see some of the Stardew Valley cast appearing later on.
Here are the named characters confirmed to be part of Haunted Chocolatier’s character list so far and what we know about them.
Lily
Lily is the first named character shown in the game’s early gameplay trailer. She’s seemingly quite a big fan of purple and pink if the room she’s in is anything to go by, has long, brown hair, and is seen extending the player a mysterious invitation.
Burk
Burk is the local blacksmith and proud owner of a thick, brown beard. It’s possible that he’ll have some role in helping players get better equipment.
Maddie
Maddie wears short black hair and that’s pretty much all we know about her. In the early gameplay trailer, she asks the player character what they think of life in the big city, revealing three possible answers.
Jett and Dr. Tungsten
Spiky-haired Jett has a knack for research, using Dr. Tungsten’s lab equipment for his own needs, although he’d prefer if you didn’t mention that to anyone else. Little is known about Dr. Tungsten at the moment, but you can see him looking over some monitors in his lab, but we’re not sure what he’s researching!
Nigel
The last named character that was part of Haunted Chocolatier’s initial reveal, Nigel seems to be the local bartender. Where his in-game model looks rather unassuming, the portrait next to his dialogue suggests that he’s seen a thing or two during his lifetime.
Aside from these named characters, a butler can also be spotted roaming what look like the halls of the game’s haunted castle.
A sequence showing off your shop also features multiple NPCs, but it’s unclear whether everyone who lives in the town has a name and a distinct personality. Given the shopkeeping aspect of the game, it may be possible that unnamed NPCs might find the prospect of purchasing tasty chocolate appealing. Oh, and, gifting stuff to NPCs is also making a comeback.
That’s what we know about Haunted Chocolatier’s character list so far, but you can rest assured that we’ll update it with any new names and details as soon as we find out more.
