Blizzard Entertainment have released the 17.4 Update for Hearthstone. The patch coincides with the start of the Felfire Festival and brings with it new minions to play with. So grab a brush and scrub those decks with the new Pirates.
The Battleground games will feature five of the six minion types forming the shifting recruitment pool for that game. With the fresh introduction of the Pirates, they will always be available in the minion pool until they join the rest down the line. The active minion types will be displayed when you’re at Hero selection and you can check anytime during the Recruit phase by checking in with Bartender Bob.

Don’t worry that this will mess up your synergies as Blizzard have said “To keep things fair, Heroes designed with synergies around a specific minion types will sit out if their corresponding minion type is unavailable.” Speaking of Heroes, Battlegrounds also has a Hero Pool update including the introduction of 3 brand new heroes:
- Captain Eudora - Buried Treasure [Cost 1] - Dig for a Golden minion! (4 Digs Left)
- Skycap'n Kragg - Piggybank [Cost 0] - Gain 1 Gold this turn. Increases each turn. (Once per game)
- Captain Hooktusk - Trash for Treasure [Cost 0] - Remove a friendly minion. Discover one from a lower Tavern Tier.
For those of you with an itch for a new card back, the Rusted Legion will be made available to earn through the five chapter Solo Adventure Trial by Felfire available for free on June 17th, 2020. This should prep you for June 24th, which will see the Trial by Felfire Challenges unlocking. Complete all the challenges to earn a Golden Kael’thas Sunstrider.
Starting on the 17th with the Solo Adventure, there will also be a new Legendary quest rewarding players with weekly pack rewards:
- June 17th - Complete Chapter 1 in the Trial by Felfire adventure and earn 1 Ashes of Outland pack, 1 Year of the Dragon pack, and 1 Rise of Shadows pack.
- June 24th - Play 4 Trial by Felfire Challenge games and earn 1 Ashes of Outland pack, 1 Year of the Dragon pack, and 1 Saviors of Uldum pack.
- July 1st - Play 4 Tavern Brawl games and earn 1 Ashes of Outland pack, 1 Year of the Dragon pack, and 1 Descent of Dragons pack.
