Hitman 3 will take players to the new Chongqing location, publisher and developer IO Interactive revealed today, while also highlighting the Glacier Engine improvements coming with its upcoming game.
Described as “a Chinese transportation hub packed full of shops and food stands, all crammed into tight streets - with plenty of secrets off the beaten path”, the rainy, neon-lit Chongqing location showcases Hitman 3’s improved lighting and full water effects.
Raindrops will visibly hit Agent 47 as they fall, the master assassin’s clothes also getting wet in the process.
Hitman 3 Chongqing Location and Glacier Engine Improvements
The title also bring smoother animations and interactions while improving on the series’ AI, with locations like Dubai supporting more than 300 active NPCs at once.
Hitman 3’s next-gen console version will also run in 4K resolution at 60 frames per second and feature HDR support. Beefier PCs should also have no trouble running the game in 4K.
Better yet, players will be able to import the locations from the previous two Hitman games in the World of Assassination trilogy into Hitman 3 and play through them again with all these improvements.
Hitman 3 is due out on January 20, 2021, and headed to PC, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Google Stadia.
A Nintendo Switch version will also be available via cloud streaming. You can get a better idea of how good the game looks by checking out the trailer below.
