Hitman 3 may bring Agent 47’s story to an end, at least for now, but it’s also a fresh start in a way. Not only is it a standalone game but it also launches on new platforms and storefronts. This means that everyone will be starting over with a clean slate, however, developer IO Interactive has confirmed that there will be a way to carry over progression from Hitman 2 to Hitman 3.
Hitman 3’s option to transfer progression from Hitman 2 means that the vast majority of your accomplishments will carry over into the newest entry. Do note, however, that carrying over progress is different from importing locations.
After a bit of waiting, the process is finally live, although you might have a hard time logging in to your IOI account. The developer is aware of the issues and working to fix them.
Update on progression carryover:

We're processing thousands of players and getting more of you playing.
If you complete the process and see that your request has 'failed', it will be placed in a queue on our end and processed. You can do no more.

You can head to the dedicated Hitman 3 carry over progress website to begin. An IOI Account is required and you can set one up by clicking on the button found in the upper right corner of the developer’s website.
You need to use a web browser and the process can only be done once for each family of platforms. You’ll then need to select an account you’ve linked to your IOI account, review it, and confirm that you want to transfer its Hitman 2 progression to Hitman 3. Here’s what gets carried over:
- Player profile
- XP rank
- Location mastery levels
- Location mastery unlocks
- Challenge progress
- Challenge unlocks
- Elusive Target suits/unlocks
- Legacy achievements tied to the first two games</ul>
For starters, progression can only be transferred on the same family of platforms. In the PC's case, Steam users can only transfer their Hitman 2 progression to the Epic Store version of Hitman 3, but not to consoles or Google Stadia.
Doing so after you've started playing Hitman 3 will delete your current progress, so it's best to do it as soon as you start the game for the first time.
Savegames will not carry over alongside the progress and the ICA Electrocution Phone will not be available in Hitman 3. Hitman 1 progress from Hitman 2's Legacy Pack will also carry over when you transfer progression.
Certain unlocks, like the Hitman 1 GOTY Escalation rewards, will become available upon importing the locations from their respective game.
It's worth noting that there doesn't seem to be a way of transferring progression directly from Hitman 1 to Hitman 3. If you've yet to play the second game, you'll likely have to start over.
Hitman 3 is now live. If you're still on the fence about purchasing it, our review and length guide should prove helpful.
