Sooner or later, war becomes inevitable in Humankind. Whether because of an important resource or one’s pure desire to paint more of the map in their color, armies will clash and people will die. One way to see a war to its end, and possibly the one you’ll use the most, is to Force Surrender. Here’s how it works.
Forced Surrender in Humankind can only be triggered once a side’s war support has reached 0. This can happen due to a variety of reasons, but defeating units and occupying cities tends to move things along considerably faster.
Once a participant’s war support reaches 0, the winning side can force them to surrender from the War Resolution tab of the diplomacy menu.
Humankind’s Force Surrender option gives the winner the power to choose the terms, starting with any demands that might have fueled the war in the first place.
With them selected, the winner is free to either spend their remaining war support on taking over cities they’ve occupied, vassalize their opponent, or leave things as they are and gain some money.
Once Force Surrender is selected, both civilization’s war support drops down to 0 and they can resume rebuilding diplomatic ties. For more help with Humankind, check out our guide on attaching outposts to cities and the full list of playable cultures.
