Publisher Sega and developer Amplitude Studios today announced that 4X strategy game Humankind will be free to try this weekend on Steam.
Players who have yet to purchase Humankind can take advantage of its free weekend to experience its take on historical 4X strategy and get the game for a hefty discount during the Sega Megamix sale.
Those who hop in will have access to the features of the base game, including 61 cultures to choose from when building your civilization.
Rather than making your choice at the start of the game and sticking with it for its entirety, cultures are treated more as building blocks.
You pick one for each of the game’s eras, being able to benefit from different bonuses and use different emblematic units as time progresses.
If you like its flavor of 4x strategy, Humankind’s free weekend also sees the title discounted by 50%.
In addition to several released DLC packs that can further flesh out the experience, the title’s first expansion is also now available for pre-order and confirmed to launch on November 9.
