Likely the most anticipated 4X strategy game of the year, Humankind’s launch day player count easily secured it a spot in the most played games on Steam. It also surpassed subgenre behemoth Civilization 6, which is no small feat.
The anticipation surrounding Humankind could be felt early on and the title benefited from having developer Amplitude Studios’ name attached to it.
Its Endless series gave us some of the best 4x strategy games around and the studio was upfront about aiming to make its shift to a historical setting equally interesting.
Humankind Player Count on Steam
Humankind’s launch day player count reached a peak of 55,284 concurrent users, according to website Steam Database, which is far higher than Civilization 6’s 37,173 players.
Amplitude Studios’ newest game also had the advantage of being the new kid on the block that also promised to shake up the subgenre – our review delves deeper into how well it managed to do that – but has quite a bit to go until it reaches Civ 6’s all-time peak of 162,657 concurrent players.
At the time of writing, Humankind’s player count boasts no less than 41,217 players trying their hand at mashing some of its 60 cultures into one grand civilization.
It’s a good start for the game and, if you’re also planning to hop on in, our guides on city cap and attaching outposts to cities will help you hit the ground running.
