Sometimes, all toppling the local government does is create a power vaccum, allowing drug lords to pour in and attempt to take the power. At least that’s how upcoming strategy title Invasion Machine’s action is framed.
In it, you take control of a peace force asked to restore order, while also maintaining a good image of the war for the folks back home.
Invasion Machine looks to mix RTS with sandbox elements. The title will place a focus on preserving your troops. Seeing their comrades fall can throw them in a frenzy, just like untreated wounds lead to them bleeding out.
“You will be balancing the needs of the local population and randomly-generated tasks given to you by your own Higher Command. The goal is to prevent the province from aligning with the Narcoguerilla, whilst keeping our own troops safe.”, its website reads. What’s interesting is that civilians will, supposedly, not stay neutral and instead help either you or your enemy.
Invasion Machine is scheduled to enter Steam Early Access on March 1, 2019. At launch, the game will have all its core systems in place, although some will be in a prototype state. Developer Pixel Machine is looking at a full release sometime in Q2 2020.
