Publisher M2H has announced that Isonzo, the third entry in its series of World War I multiplayer shooters, has locked down its release date to the first half of September.
Focusing on the battles of the southern front, Isonzo lets players experience the clashes between the Kingdom of Italy and the Austro-Hungarian Empire from both sides.
Isonzo’s six launch maps see players fighting “among the scenic peaks, rugged valleys and idyllic towns of northern Italy,” so it’s safe to assume that high-altitude battles won’t be missing from its Offensive game mode.
Accurately-modeled weapons and uniforms give the whole experience the level of authenticity that the series is known for, while its third entry also introduces a class system.
Six classes will be available at launch, each one having its own distinct playstyle. Picking the Engineer means that you’ll be able to use the game’s new building system to put down barbed wire, sandbags, and heavy weaponry for your team.
The Officer can blow his trench whistle to call in a new wave of troops; if a command table is built, the class can also use the field telephone to activate the new support system, which allows it to call in artillery, gas, or recon biplanes for additional support.
If you need some extra help with your push, crewable artillery pieces spread across the maps allow one soldier to operate the gun while another searches for targets.
Isonzo also features a character customization system that lets you “choose from historically accurate helmets and hats, uniforms, and accessories from smoking pipes to bandages” before heading into battle. Cosmetic DLC will expand upon in after launch.
The game is set to launch on September 13 and headed to PC, via both Steam and the Epic Games Store, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS5, and PS4.
