We've revealed a lot of new information about Jurassic World: Evolution, but one of the things developers Frontier are keeping as a surprise is what players can expect from the final island in the game - Isla Sorna, the island from The Lost World: Jurassic Park and Jurassic Park III, which half the Jurassic Park franchise has taken place on.
We asked Frontier about the island and they gave us a few new details about Isla Sorna, and it seems the game's final challenge will be a real change-up from other islands, and actually sounds like it will be a re-creation of the events of The Lost World.
Alongside our hands-on with the game, we also spoke to Game Director Michael Brooks and Chief Creative Officer Jonny Watts from Frontier. We talked about the islands and how they played differently, and they talked a little about Isla Sorna, the final island in the game:
Michael Brooks: And then of course you reach Sorna, the biggest island, and that just throws every challenge at you.
GameWatcher:That’s the one from The Lost World and Jurassic Park III, right?
Jonny Watts: Yes it is, so when you get to it it’ll feel like The Lost World. It’s a different challenge, where the dinosaurs are roaming around and you’ve got to decide what to do with them. Are you going to bag ‘em and sell ‘em, like Roland Tembo did in the movie, or are you going to make a facility out there?"
This is exactly how The Lost World: Jurassic Park went down, with the dinosaurs being there already and InGen flying in to capture them all, although with the twist of being able to put a park down on an island where dinosaurs are wandering around naturally. Will dinosaurs just emerge from the forest and wreak havoc? Will there be environmentalists like Nick Van Owen sabotaging your efforts, which is possible because sabotage is already in the game? It sounds certainly exciting, and very different from the islands we've played already.
We'll know more when the game launches on June 12. In other Jurassic World: Evolution movie-related news, we've got the first details on the tie-in DLC for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
