As 2025 sets in, League of Legends’ Season One’s start and end dates promise a refreshed ranked structure for the MOBA’s most competitively-minded players alongside a slate of Noxus-themed content that should make Summoner’s Rift feel a bit more dangerous than usual.
Having locked down its start date to January 9, 2025, LoL Season One brings us various goodies, balance changes, and bug fixes across eight patches. It will also be split into two Acts, each of them receiving their own battle pass with a plethora of rewards.
League of Legends Season One Start and End Date
Publisher and developer Riot Games hasn’t confirmed an official end date for League of Legends Season One just yet, but will likely do so further into the year.
- League of Legends Season One start date: January 9, 2025
- League of Legends Season One end date: Unknown
With only one planned Ranked reset throughout 2025, which happens at the very start, on January 9, Summoner’s Rift is getting a Noxus-themed makeover, courtesy of new art, music, structures, and more.
The map’s newest objective, Atakhan, Bringer of Ruin spawns 20 minutes into a match, on either the top or bottom side, taking one of two forms, permanently changing terrain, and granting the team that defeats him a buff that lasts until the end of the match.
League of Legends Season One also brings us a new champion in the shape of Mel Medarda.
Featured in the Arcane TV series, she relies on projectile reflection to claim victory, with her Rebuttal ability “reflecting targeted abilities back at their original caster and non-targeted abilities back in the enemy’s direction.”
The MOBA’s newest champion will be unlockable for free by completing a seasonal mission. Also on the gameplay side of things, we can expect “new runes, items, changes to Teleport, and a system called Feats of Strength, which grants access to newer, more powerful boots.”
During LoL’s Season One, we should also see “more in-game thematic narrative expressions,” alongside a new minigame that “brings the world of Runeterra to life and connects in-game and out-of-game experiences.”
LeBlanc and another, currently unnamed champion, are set to receive a visual update, while many Noxus skins, such as those belonging to the Masque of the Black Rose skins will make their way into the game.
