Lost Ark is a pretty huge game with tonnes of different ways to play it. You can customise your own town, your gear, and the way you play the game. This all being said, the classes aren’t so precise that you don’t have some wiggle room.
Before we get started, it’s important to understand how subclasses work. As you start out, you will be given the opportunity to further specialise your class into a more specific build. The main class is just a wide description of what you will play, the subclasses are where you want to focus your choices on. Here’s what every Lost Ark Class is and how they work.
Lost Ark Warrior Class
The warrior is large and brutish, using huge swings and varied melee abilities to complete their objectives. If you are looking for someone beefy and straightforward, this is a great class to play as.
Warrior Subclasses - Berserker
Berserker is an apt name for this class as it focuses on high damage attacks and a serious defence. They work up to a frenzy, where they have increased attack strength and movement speed. This is a class all about synergy. If you can get a buddy to keep you dealing damage. “Strike Wave” swings in an arc forward, hitting multiple enemies, and can be charged to do more damage. “Berserk Fury” and “Hell Blade” can also be charged, making tanking damage a very important part of his class.
Warrior Subclasses - Paladin
While Paladins can deal damage and tank hits, they are at their best as part of a team, supporting your teammates, while cleaving through the enemy. This is fundamentally a support class that can also deal damage where needed. “Alithane’s Judgment” is the perfect encapsulation of this class, dealing holy light damage to opponents and surrounding your team in a barrier. This is as righteous as they come.
Warrior Subclasses - Gunlancer
While all warriors can take damage, Gunlancer is the best at it. They have the ability to jump into battle with “Leap Attack” and “Charged Stinger” but “Guardian’s Protection” will get you out of most situations. It refills your shield and releases a protective aura for your teammates. This class will get hit a lot
Lost Ark Mage Class
The Mage does exactly what you think it does. With a focus on magic, they can imbue their friends’ weapons or deal serious elemental damage to everyone else. Although there are only two choices, there’s a lot of variety
Mage Subclasses - Bard
The Bard is a great support class, healing friends and regenerating MP, but they can also mess up the opponent. “Heavenly Tune” increases inflicted damage on nearby enemies whilst increasing attack speed and MP regeneration on teammates - a formidable combo. They can also use their songs to hurt enemies with the likes of “Rhythm Buckshot”
Mage Subclasses - Sorceress
The Sorceress wields elemental damage at its most effective, harnessing its power to wipe out enemies. They have a handful of useful AOE attacks like “Doomsday” but also have more focused attacks through the likes of “Lightning Burst” and “Ice Arrow”
Lost Ark Martial Artist Class
The Martial Artist is a much quicker melee class, focusing on combos and quick movement. They’re perhaps a little squishier than the Warrior but make up for it with their speed
Martial Artist Subclasses - Striker
The striker is a quick melee class and one of the more straightforward. Moves like “Moon Flash Kick” and “Storm Dragon Awakening” allow you to move as you strike - a perfect choice for someone looking to be constantly on the go. They can also infuse their strikes with elemental damage to fit better into a team composition.
Martial Artist Subclasses - Wardancer
If you like the speed and elemental effects of the Striker, this subclass is for you. They use their fists a lot and have a dedicated “Lightning Kick”, capable of sending enemies airborne and bringing them straight back down again. They don’t move quite as much as the previous class but make up for it in great punching combos. They even pull enemies closer with “Fist of Dominance” to get that final blow.
Martial Artist Subclasses - Scrapper
The Scrapper is all based around the power of their gauntlet, doing mysterious magical effects and punching enemies out of existence. “Death Sentence” allows you to stack energy, dealing concentrated damage, where “Crushing Smite” sends shockwaves of power towards the enemy. “Undefeated Dragon King” is a particularly potent ability, sending you airborne, only to attack with two dragons as you land.
Martial Artist Subclasses - Soulfist
The Soulfist subclass is perhaps the most varied, specialising in both melee and ranged attacks. Both synergise with special abilities and combos to get out of any situation. Where you can hit from a distance, “Pulverizing Palm” allows you to close the gap and “Heavenly Squash” can finish them off. This is great for a solo adventurer or someone looking to switch up their playstyle on the go.
Lost Ark Gunner Class
The Gunner is the best dedicated ranged class, dealing high damage from a distance. If you want to take the battles at your own pace and don’t like to get lost in the crowd, this is a great choice.
Gunner Subclasses - Gunslinger
The Gunslinger was my first class choice, mostly due to their ability to swap between guns on the fly and their quick movement skills. They are all about getting into battle quick, dealing damage and hopping out to fire at range when they need backup. Moves like “Plasma Bullet” slowly tear through enemies where the likes of “Last Request” gives you the ability to fling them into the air.
Gunner Subclasses - Artillerist
The Atrilliersit is the most stationery of all the Gunner subclasses but it makes up for that in an ever-shifting roster of weaponry. “Gatling Gun’’ and “Flamethrower” give you access to new weapons where “Missile Barrage” allows you to let loose with lots of damage. If you can rope in a support or two, this subclass can take on armies by itself.
Gunner Subclasses - Deadeye
The Deadeye class can also cycle through weapons but their abilities make them a much more complicated beast. You can take out the shotgun to do “Shotgun Rapid Fire”, hitting groups of enemies at once. If this isn’t your playstyle, “Bursting Flare” takes out a rifle and deals tonnes of damage in just three shots. This is perhaps the coolest a Gunner can get.
Gunner Subclasses - Sharpshooter
If you’re looking for something a little unique in your Gunner class, the Sharpshooter is a great choice. Equipped with a bow, their varied attacks and high agility will keep them jumping around the battlefield, picking out the enemies weak spots. This being said, moves like “Blade Storm” gives you access to something other than your trusty bow.
Lost Ark Assassin Class
The Assassin is the rogue of the Lost Ark universe, doing high damage in seconds. They are at their best when they are moving and avoiding damage but they have some tricks up their sleeve when backed up into a corner.
Assassin Subclasses - Shadowhunter
The Shadowhunter is the closest you get to the baddies you face. They are capable of shapeshifting and have demonic powers to go along with it. With moves like “Demon Vision” and “Demonic Clone”, is it any wonder what role she has? If you like to feel cool as you shift, warp and slice your way through baddies, this is the class for you.
Assassin Subclasses - Deathblade
Deathblade, as the name suggests, is adept in blades. They can swap between three different types, changing fighting styles on the fly. “Flash Blink” sends you hurtling forward, holding all swords, where “Spincutter” allows varied damage close up and you can always use “Blitz Rush” for a nice quick dash. This is a quick class that aims to get hundreds of stabs into enemies before they can even move.
Which Lost Ark Class Should You Pick?
Ultimately, there is so much variety among these classes that you will likely find your right style after tens of hours. With the ability to play around with lots of different skills, no matter who you choose, there’s a new way to build up your class. Just get in there and get fighting as soon as you can
