Revealed during Gamescom 2021’s Opening Night Live, >Marvel’s Midnight Suns is publisher 2K and developer Firaxis’ long-rumored next game.
The title is a tactical RPG that explores “the darker side of the Marvel Universe,” already featuring a mixture of popular and less known superheroes and supervillains as part of its characters list.
Based on the 90’s comic book Rise of the Midnights Sons, the game puts players in the shoes of The Hunter, a superhero which you get to customize, joining forces with the likes of Wolverine and Blade as they set off to stop Lilith’s nefarious plans.
Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ characters list boasts quite a few superheroes and supervillains that we’ll either control, encounter, or fight against as we attempt to save the world.
Marvel's Midnight Suns Characters List
The title won’t be just a reskinned version of Firaxis’ rebooted XCOM series, boasting its own combat system whose use of cards imply a deck-building element.
Punching and kicking stuff is generally fun in video games, but moreso when you’ve recognizable superheroes doing it. This is how the Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ characters list looks at the moment:
- The Hunter (customizable player character)
- Lilith (main villain)
- Blade
- Captain America
- Captain Marvel
- Caretaker (NPC)
- Chthon (mentioned)
- Deadpool (DLC character)
- Dr. Strange
- Ghost Rider
- Iron Man
- Magik
- Morbius (DLC character)
- Nico Minoru
- Sabretooth (seen as enemy)
- Scarlet Witch
- Spider-Man
- Storm (DLC character)
- The Hulk
- Venom (DLC character)
- Wolverine
More superheroes and supervillains will become part of Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ characters list via post-launch support. DLC is confirmed to introduce the likes of Deadpool and Venom, expanding the roster of playable characters.
Interestingly enough, we won’t just get to use their abilities in combat, but also get some downtime in between missions that allows us to delve deeper into each character’s personality and forge relationships.
Marvel’s Midnight Suns is headed to PC (via both Steam and the Epic Games Store), Xbox Series X/S, and PS5 on December 2, 2022.
