Mortal Kombat 11 is arguably one of the most anticipated releases of 2019 and the reveal that took place earlier this month only fanned the hype flames.
As with most fighting games, a significant amount of players will flock towards its online component. But will Mortal Kombat 11 support cross-platform play when it launches on PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch on April 23?
Will Mortal Kombat 11 support cross-platform play?
According to an article on Wccftech, developer NetherRealm is “looking into” the possibility of adding cross-platform play to Mortal Kombat 11.
It will, however, most likely, not be there at launch, so players will have to stick to brutally smashing the virtual body parts of peers on the same platform.
While we don’t have any direct confirmation of Mortal Kombat 11 receiving crossplay, it is worth keeping in mind that the newest entry runs on Unreal Engine 4. Epic Games has stated that it plans to release a suite of cross-platform play services that will be made available for free to all developers and usable on all stores and platforms.
These crossplay services are scheduled to release starting with Q2 2019 so, with a bit of luck,we might just see cross-platform play added to Mortal Kombat 11 at some point further down the line.
