Publisher Focus Home Interactive today officially revealed Necromunda: Hired Gun as its next Warhammer 40,000 title. A single player first-person shooter developed by Streum On Studio, who you might know for its work on Space Hulk: Deathwing, it puts players in the role of a merciless bounty hunter.
As you venture across the dystopian cityscape, you’ll inevitably have to navigate “an ocean of crime and corruption” and encounter scores of unsavory characters. It’s good, then, that Necromunda: Hired Gun gives you a loyal cyber-mastiff that acts as a permanent companion.
“Your cyber-mastiff is your only true companion - half-dog, half-robot, and ready to kill for you in exchange for treats. He warns you of enemies, can insta-kill them with a bite to the neck, and generally watches your back. In return, you can keep him hale and healthy with the best augments money can buy,” the publisher says in an emailed press release.
Speaking of augments, the money you earn from contracts can also be spent to improve the protagonist’s abilities by making “everything, from your brain to your legs” better than their original flesh variants. Necromunda: Hired Gun’s gameplay promises an alert pace alongside a good dose of brutality.
Your bounty hunter is also rather mobile, being able to wall-run, double-jump, and use their wrist-mounted grappling hook to close in distances. You have access to a varied arsenal that let you put many holes through anyone unlucky to stand in your way, but can also disarm enemies, or avoid them entirely.
Necromunda: Hired Gun is set to launch on June 1 and headed to PC, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS5, and PS4.
Pre-orders discounting the game by 15% and bringing its price down to 33,99€ or your regional equivalent. Anyone buying the title before launch also gets the cosmetic Hunter’s Bounty pack that includes new skins for your knife, revolver, outfit, and dog’s chew toy.
If you’re aching to visit the notorious Hive World now, Necromunda: Underhive Wars offers a different, more tactical perspective on the battles that take place there on a regular basis.
