Chernobylite is the next promising project from The Farm 51, developers of Get Even, Necrovision and World War 3. What makes it particularly intriguing is the fact that it’s set in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, which the devs have 3D-scanned for maximum authenticity.
The latest gameplay trailer for Chernobylite aims to answer the question of ‘what is Chernobylite?’, and it does so by going over some of the core features of the game. We know that it will be a story-driven non-linear survival horror title, which makes it just the type of thing The Farm 51 excels at.
Much like STALKER, Chernobylite, too, will pit players against threats both human and supernatural, though it seems that Chernobylite will delve much further into the metaphysical nature of the Chernobyl NPP catastrophe.
The trailer also demonstrates the game’s cooking and crafting systems, as well as a wide variety of anomalous activities. It seems that a significant focus is put on delivering a cohesive storyline, too, as Chernobylite features a number of flashback sequences as the story progresses.
Inventory management, resource collection, and base-building will all come into play in Chernobylite, but the story-to-survival ratio of the game remains to be seen. At the time of writing, Chernobylite is slated to launch via Steam’s Early Access program on the 16th of October.
