Warhammer: Chaosbane is the upcoming Warhammer fantasy hack 'n' slash action RPG, where players will (admittedly expectedly) have to drive back the forces of Nurgle as they make a push against the Imperium of Man.
Following the developers' release of a gameplay-oriented trailer, where they focused on pinpointing what makes Chaosbane different from all the other games in the genre now available, this latest offering is a story-focused one, providing us with a bit of a backdrop to the ongoing conflict.
Granted, what's given here is a tad generic, to be sure, but some context other than - Chaos is bad, go purge the heretics - is more than welcome, really. Apparently, the story may be centred around Magnus the Pious, who originally drove the forces of Chaos back, allowing the Imperium to grow.
Years later, Chaos began to bloom once more, and this is where the players' characters come in. There is a bit of hint as to what went down, mind, seeing as how the visage of Magnus doesn't burn away as the Chaos spreads, but rather becomes distorted and ruined.
Whether there is more to the story of Warhammer: Chaosbane than first meets the eye, we can't know - not yet at least, but things are certainly more intriguing than we first thought they'd be.
