The mystical portals to Nightingale’s gaslamp fantasy world will open soon, and if you plan on exploring its forests, swamps, and deserts, you may be wondering if the title will play on the Steam Deck.
Nightingale would benefit from Steam Deck support in a similar way to other titles, allowing us to play while on the go or relaxing away from our PCs.
Nightingale Steam Deck Support
Developer Inflexion Games has addressed the matter in an FAQ posted to Steam, although the answer may not be as straightforward as some hoped.
“Technically, Nightingale can launch and be played on Steam Deck with the caveats to controller support listed above, but we’re not considering it officially supported at launch. This means we will not be providing customer support for Steam Deck issues at launch as it’s considered an unofficial platform at this time.” the developer wrote.
This could mean that Nightingale Steam Deck Support might not be available right out of the gate, but it should run on the device without any problems.
At the moment, it has yet to be assigned one of the four labels Valve uses for describing compatibility with its portable device.
- Nightingale Steam Deck support status: Available, but not officially supported.
Prior to receiving word from the developer, it’s hard to say how soon we can expect the survival game to become fully playable on the Steam Deck, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed that we won’t have to wait too long.
“We are working on full Steam Deck support and will provide an update once that status is confirmed.” said Inflexion Games.
Given how this is an early access title and development may prove a bit more volatile, it is worth keeping in mind that other parts of the game can end up being prioritised instead.
Nightingale is set to enter Steam Early Access on February 20, 2024 and will be priced at $29.99 or your regional equivalent.
