Publisher Annapurna Interactive today released the launch trailer for space exploration title Outer Wilds, announcing its release date. The game is set to launch in a bit over a week, on May 30.
Described as “an open world mystery about a solar system trapped in an endless time loop”, Outer Wilds lets players explore a handcrafted solar system on foot, or by using their trusty rocket ship.
Although its trailers and screenshots reveal plenty of cozy locations and eye-catching sights, part of the time spent in Outer Wilds will go towards solving “an ancient mystery”.
The launch trailer, which you can watch below, reveals that as you travel through the solar system, you’ll be met with a plethora of different experiences. If one moment you’re sitting by a campfire, listening to a fellow traveler playing the banjo, another might find you witnessing a planet shattering as you pass it by.
Instead of taking you by the hand and showing the way, Outer Wilds will rely on hints found in its various locations to nudge players towards making sense of its mystery. The title is coming to both PC and Xbox One on May 30. On PC, Outer Wilds is an Epic Games Store exclusive.
