Overkill's The Walking Dead is getting pulled from Steam really, really soon, as luck would have it. It wasn't long ago that we reported on how the game did very poorly in Q4 2018, and now it's all coming to a disruptive head.
Overkill's The Walking Dead is getting pulled from Steam because the copyright holders, Skybound Entertainment, are very unhappy with how Starbreeze and Overkill handled the IP, and are now actively working to disrupt the procurement channels for the game.
"We did our best to work with Starbreeze and resolve many issues that we saw with the game, but ultimately 'Overkill's The Walking Dead' did not meet our standards nor is it the quality that we were promised," said Skybound's official statement.
Skybound also noted that they are "exceedingly sorry to our fans and share their disappointment in the game." The same statement mentioned that the company will continue to look for alternative game studios to give the IP the treatment it deserves.
If you'd like to purchase Overkill's The Walking Dead while you still can, the game is available on Steam for €24,99. Whether that's a worthwhile investment, however, is a wholly different matter. Let us hope Starbreeze manages to bounce up from this, even though things aren't looking good at all.
