Blizzard is gearing up for the Overwatch Lunar New Year 2020 event, which is set to bring new content to the online shooter when its start time comes around.
An annual celebration revolving around the Chinese New Year, the Overwatch Lunar New Year event opens the way towards obtaining new, limited-time skins, character intros and more. Here’s what we know about its start date.
Overwatch Lunar New Year 2020 Event Start Time
The Overwatch Lunar New Year 2020 kicked off on January 16, marking the start of the Year of the Rat, and lasts until February 5. Players have a bit under three weeks to obtain its various limited-time cosmetics.
As part of the Overwatch Lunar New Year 2020, players can hop into two brawls. If Capture the Flag is likely familiar, Capture the Flag Blitz ups the intensity by moving the flags closer together, while requiring six captures in order to win, instead of the usual three.
Each week, players can try their hand at completing Weekly Challenges which come with their own rewards. On top of that, they’re also the source of three of the seven new skins. Here’s what you’ll have to do:
Week 1 (January 16 – January 23)
- Win 3 Games - Jingang Doomfist Player Icon
- Win 6 Games - Focus Doomfist Spray
- Win 9 Games - Monk Doomfist Skin
Week 2 (January 23 – January 30)
- Win 3 Games - Ancient Bronze Winston Player Icon
- Win 6 Games - Ancient Bronze Winston Spray
- Win 9 Games - Ancient Bronze Winston Skin
Week 3 (January 30 – February 5)
- Win 3 Games - Rat Wrecking Ball Icon
- Win 6 Games - Spring Wrecking Ball Spray
- Win 9 Games - Paper Cutting Wrecking Ball Skin
The Overwatch Lunar New Year 2020 brings back Lunar New Year skins from previous years while adding seven of its own to the bunch.
Aside from the three Epic skins rewarded by Weekly Challenges, players can unlock four new legendary skins: Face Changer Sombra, Mask Dancer Moira, Opera Brigitte and Samul Nori Lucio.
Nine emotes, six intros and Lunar New Year loot boxes round off the rewards portion of the Overwatch Lunar New Year 2020 event.
