Palworld, a multiplayer open-world survival and crafting game, has become a sensation on Steam Early Access, reaching a peak concurrent player count of 1,582,482. It’s also accessible on Xbox One and Xbox Series X via Game Pass. However, a key question lingers: Will Palworld eventually be released on PlayStation 5?
Palworld is often likened to a multiplayer game similar to Pokémon but with weapons. It supports cooperative gameplay with up to four players. In this game, the Pals can take on different roles: they can participate in battles, be tasked with working on farms or in factories, be traded, or be used as a food source.
When Is Palworld going to be released on PS5?
Palworld is only currently planned for release on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X, although the developers have commented on the possibility of bringing it to the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, there doesn’t seem to be any plans to do this at the moment. It costs $29.99 on Steam currently.
“We don’t have plans for this at the moment, but we will consider it during development.” it said in a published FAQ on Steam.
Recently, the former President of SIE Worldwide Studios at Sony, Shuhei Yoshida, who left the position in 2019 to lead a new initiative aimed at nurturing and promoting external independent creators, was questioned on X regarding the release of Palworld on PlayStation 5 after he congratulated the team for its massive success on Steam.
Yoshida then tagged in Jingwen Zhu in response and said “Yes”, who’s responsible for forming partnerships with third-party developers and publishers for the PlayStation brand. Zhu may be working with Pocketpair on getting Palworld ported to the PlayStation platforms, but nothing official has been confirmed yet.
PlayStation versions may be thought about once Palworld exits early access, but perhaps we will learn more when the 2024 roadmap is published after the early access release later this month.
