Paradox Interactive has alerted its community to upcoming price increases for the subscription services for both Hearts of Iron IV and Europa Universalis IV.
Initially, if you wanted to play HOI 4 with all its DLC, the cost was $4.99 per month. However, following the price increase, the monthly subscription will now be $7.99. This is the same for EUIV.
The price of the 3-month option will increase from $12.99 to $14.99. Paradox says that it’s going to remove the six-month option from sale. This option costs you $24.99 at the moment, but it will be going on the 16th of January, when the price increases comes into effect.
“Firstly, we want to acknowledge that this heads up is coming late. It’s not ideal and as you might know from our other updates on pricing, we always inform you all early about commercial decisions like these.” said a spokesperson for Paradox Interactive on announcing the decision.
“Secondly, you’re probably wondering why we increase these prices at all? The current prices for these subscriptions were set two years ago. Since then, we’ve released more DLCs for our games, and the amount of content included in these subscriptions is simply higher now.” it concluded.
If you wanted to buy all the DLC for either Hearts of Iron IV or Europa Universalis IV, it would cost you just over $200 with the Ultimate Bundle that’s available on Steam.
