These eerie entities frequently leave behind fingerprints, tangible and telltale signs of their ghostly presence. However, you might occasionally stumble upon footprints as well. The pressing question on many players’ minds is: do these footprints qualify as a type of evidence, akin to fingerprints, that you can record in your investigative diary?
Do Footprints Count as Fingerprints in Phasmophobia?
Footprints may be spotted through several methods. Typically, they can be detected using a UV Flashlight or Glowstick, both of which emit ultraviolet light capable of revealing the ectoplasm residue left behind by the various spectral entities in Phasmophobia. Footprints do not qualify as fingerprint evidence. They typically appear as tasks for supplementary cash rewards rather than contributing to your primary investigation.
Footprints normally manifest solely on the floor and can also be visible within the salt you scatter to trace the ghost’s movements, while fingerprints usually appear on doors, windows, and light switches.

- Banshee
- Jinn
- Poltergeist
- Demon

Don’t forget, if you stumble upon any footprints or fingerprints, even within your strategically placed salt, be sure to snap a few photos. You’ll receive a small cash bonus at the conclusion of your investigation for your photographic evidence.
The good news is that with the upcoming update, Phasmophobia will now support crossplay between all platforms, so you would be wise to get reacquainted with the voice commands you can use to talk with the ghosts.
