Obsidian Entertainment has announced that Pillars Of Eternity II: Deadfire - The Forgotten Sanctum is set to release on December 13. The cRPG’s third and final paid DLC will have players aiding the Archmages of Eora “in keeping a potential catastrophe that looks to be set by a fellow Archmage at bay.”.
The blurb on the title’s Steam page mentions a violent tremor shattering the islands of the Deadfire Archipelago. The player-controlled Watcher and their party will venture to the Black Isles and into the Forgotten Sanctum in search of one archmage Maura, where they’ll “determine the fate of one of the Deadfire Archipelago’s most closely-held secrets.”. The bit that truly caught my attention, however, talks about exploring “an expansive dungeon built into the flesh of a sleeping god.”.
The Forgotten Sanctum DLC will launch alongside the 4.0 patch for Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire. Its most notable addition is that of one additional sub-class for each of the game’s playable classes. The developer has given the Priest of Woedica and Steel Garrote sub-classes as examples.
The ships roaming the Deadfire will respawn as of patch 4.0, offering more opportunities for ship combat, one of the base game’s main new features. Three new Magran’s Fire challenges alongside two new mega bosses are also on the way.
As for the console version of Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire, Obsidian has promised that more information will come in the next update, while ensuring fans that the cRPG “is still coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch!”.
