Planet Zoo is now available, letting players build and run zoos in multiple locations across the globe. But a zoo is nothing without happy animals and hard shelter is one of multiple necessities your formerly wild friends will require.
It’s a tricky one to nail down currently, but here’s what we know about hard shelter in Planet Zoo and how to properly shelter your animals.
Planet Zoo Hard Shelter
In Planet Zoo, your animals require hard shelter both as a place to rest from the curious eyes of your zoo’s visitors but also to protect from bad weather. Planet Zoo lets you build hard shelter from scratch or put down premade versions of it that come in different sizes. You’ll find hard shelter in the Habitat tab, by clicking the Bedding & Shelter button.
If you’re putting on your construction hat, you need to know that hard shelter needs to be walled off on three sides, have a roof and plenty of space for your animals to fit. The more animals you have in a given habitat, the bigger the shelter you’ll need.
While this may sound straightforward enough, Planet Zoo makes it difficult to quickly determine just how much hard shelter your animals need. You can get a vague idea of how satisfied your animals are with their current hard habitat by clicking on any of them, but we often had to rely on trial and error before we managed to build or purchase a satisfactory habitat.
We’re also not entirely sure if it’s a bug or not, but building specific types of habitats saw the satisfaction bar and percentage go up to green status but drop back to yellow after a few seconds.
