Resident Evil 3 Remake may not have had an official announcement yet, but this mod may well help us out with that, especially to those of us who are yearning for a remake of the most post popular Resident Evil title ever made.
The catch with Resident Evil 3 HD Mod is that it upscales the vast majority of the game so that it's not nearly as blurry and unclear as the original is in this day and age, making it the perfect choice for those who are eager to play something new-ish, far as RE is concerned.
The difference in picture quality afforded by the RE3 HD Mod is quite staggering, all things considered. Modders behind this project faced the issue of texture seaming by creating a special tool to analyse and regenerate mask textures from the bottom-up, so that the mod avoids those annoying lines and picture-breaks that used to appear when similar older upscale mods were used.
There are two "downsides" to this project: first is that the game's Inventory screen couldn't be regenerated, and the second is that this doesn't work on the PC version of the game, as such. Instead, the developers built their mod on the Gamecube version of the game, through a heavily-modified build of the Dolphin emulator.
You can check the mod out and download it via the official mod pages. Even if you're not very interested in that, we must suggest you check out the direct image comparisons, because what the modders have achieved here is very impressive indeed. Good luck!
