Prey is a downright phenomenal game - few would argue otherwise - yet, it may well be missing a certain brutality from it that fans of Shock games have come to know and love over the long years since System Shock.
Prey SHOCK mod aims not only to bring back a portion of this balanced difficulty to the mix, but also to completely reinvent how Prey plays from the bottom-up! This complete gameplay overhaul changes just about everything in Prey, and it's great.
SHOCK mod is, according to its creator, a "sexy gameplay overhaul mod that does basically everything, from completely reworking Neuromod skill trees, overhauling every chipset, curing cancer and making enemy drops and loot tables more interesting." Wow.
The creator's main beef with the new Prey release is that it's not all that balanced, with greatly overpowered firearms, virtually infinite resources, and no tough gameplay decisions to make. SHOCK changes all of that, introducing attributes ala System Shock 2, complete ability reworks (and new abilities to boot), chipset overhauls, Neuromod rebalance, more interesting loot, and lots more.
The changes made to Prey are comprehensive, to say the least, and if you're eager to try the game out in a new light, or are simply looking for a hardcore gameplay experience you'd expect from a System Shock title, this is the mod for you.
