During today's announcement showcase, Publisher Paradox Interactive and developer Harebrained Schemes unveiled their upcoming turn-based tactics title, The Lamplighters League.
Set in an alternate version of the 1930s, this pulp adventure puts players in charge of the eponymous organization and tasks them with recruiting a squad of capable misfits to stop the Banished Court, an evil cult, from achieving world domination.
Paradox unveils The Lamplighter's League
The alternate-history 1930s setting of the game will take your squad of characters on a thrilling journey across a wide range of locations, from "dockyards and deserts to both urban and wild jungles". As you progress, you'll need to make strategic decisions at a global level, all while preventing the enemy from advancing their schemes.
In The Lamplighters League, just as you are on the lookout for new recruits, the Banished Court is also seeking fresh blood. It's up to you to snatch new outlaws before they fall prey to the cult's nefarious schemes.
As you embark on each mission, your characters earn valuable resources and enhance their abilities. However, it's important to keep in mind the impact of stress and injuries on your characters and your overall mission progress.
Each member of The Lamplighter's League has their unique backstory, dedicated role, and tactical abilities that come into play on the battlefield.
Before entering into turn-based tactical battles, you have the option of exploring the areas in real-time, allowing you to pick off stragglers without being detected and gaining an edge in the upcoming fight.
Learning how your agents can synergize with one another while utilising advanced abilities, gear, and augmentations is key to gaining an advantage in combat.
The Lamplighter's League is slated to launch later in 2023 on PC and Xbox Series X/S. You can get a glimpse of how it plays in the trailer below.
