Rage 2 is out now, and it offers a huge post-apocalyptic open-world for players to get lost in. While there is a Fast Travel system, regularly the only way to get around is with a car - unless you have the Rage 2 Icarus helicopter.
More specifically an Onithopter, the Icarus is the only way to fly over the wasteland in the game. We'll show you when and how to get the Rage 2 flying vehicle, and what you'll need to do with it. Mostly have fun, to be fair...
How to get the Rage 2 Flying Vehicle, the Icarus Helicopter
There are many vehicles in Rage 2, but they're all ground-based - with the exception of the Icarus, which is the only flying vehicle in the entire game. It's entirely based around scouting and getting around the map quickly, so it does not come with guns and it's impossible to attack anyone while using it. This isn't Just Cause 4 - ground combat is the name of the day in Rage 2.
To get the Icarus, you'll first have need to have met Dr Kvasir in the swamp region to the west. Once you've done his first mission, you'll be able to unlock his various upgrades and get access to any bonuses from levelling up your reputation with Kvasir. To upgrade your reputation with Kvasir specifically, you have to do Ark-related missions (the green ones on the map), such as Ark missions, finding lost rangers, Feltrite meteors, and opening Ark chests.
Once you've got to Level 7 with Kvasir, you should get a pop-up saying the Icarus vehicle is now unlocked. You can go to your Vehicle menu, choose the Icarus, and spawn it for $10.
Now you can fly all over the Rage 2 map! Just watch out for the massive bottomless pits, you can only hover a certain distance of the ground you know...
