Rage 2 has been doing quite great compared to other games coming out nowadays, topping the UK charts quite conclusively, though surprisingly enough - it is lagging behind its predecessor by a substantial margin, too.
The fact that Rage 2 is selling worse than Rage can be gleaned from sales figures themselves, which are pointing toward a rather disappointing revenue stream for Bethesda. Rage 2’s physical sales figures are just a quarter of what the first game sold, apparently.
Of course, a portion of these sales has simply been moved to digital, though according to sources, this isn't very likely to account for over half the physical sales, which would mean that Rage 2 has still sold about half as many copies as Rage did back in the day.
Furthermore, Rage 2 PC sales do not account for more than 5% of total sales, which means the vast, vast majority of moved Rage 2 PC copies will definitely be via digital storefronts.
According to our review, disappointing statistics are unlikely to be caused by a drop in quality or playability, as Rage 2 scored quite highly, all things considered. What this means for the game in the long run - we are yet to see.
