Real-time strategy game Tactical Warfare joins the growing list of smaller projects that aim to carve their own spot within the sprawling genre, aiming to challenge our strategic and tactical thinking while focusing on a planetary invasion that’s a little different to what we’d usually expect.
Its two main factions – the Terrans and the Assarlions – are both human, but while the former are Earth-natives trying to defend their home, the latter were forced to leave their planet.

The similarities, however, seem to end at the base nature of the factions, since, according to developer Mizrab, “each of them has different and unique elements with varying combat abilities and styles, including tanks, combat vehicles, various types of aircraft, soldiers, and robots.”
In terms of gameplay, Tactical Warfare’s base construction uses a blueprint system that allows us “to concentrate on developing both colony defenses and the army simultaneously, eliminating the need to wait for units to be ready as seen in classic construction games.”
We’ll have to build our armies, ensure their composition is appropriate to counter the enemy’s and order units around while taking advantage of their strengths.
All these efforts are fueled by money, Tactical Warfare’s core resource which can be obtained through several methods.
Slated to launch on 1st February, barring any last-minute delays, the title comes with several game modes.
They include a series of missions that depict the Assarlions’ invasion of earth, skirmish, a wave-based mode that puts us in the role of defenders called Siege Survival, alongside a fourth mode that features no base building and challenges us to use specific unit combinations to achieve victory.
