The Resident Evil 2 Remake is out just this month and we're hugely excited, but a lot of people are concerned about additional DLC purchases in the game. Are there Resident Evil 2 Microtransactions?
There's been talk about them for a while, but if Resident Evil 2 does have microtransactions, then what could they be? If not, why do people think they're there? We've got the definitive answer to the question if Resident Evil 2 has microtransactions. Hopefully you'll like it...
Are There Resident Evil 2 Microtransactions?
The question about Resident Evil 2 Microtransactions comes from the ESRB rating about the game, which notes that there are "In-Game Purchases" with the game. This would seem to clearly indicate microtransactions.
However, calling these "microtransactions" is a bit of a stretch. Most likely this will be the Deluxe Edition content - such as various character costumes, the original RE2 soundtrack, and the Samurai Edge weapon. Presumably Capcom are making these items available to everyone as optional DLC. It's up to you if you classify these as "microtransactions" - but we'd certainly be happier that they're not exclusive to the Deluxe Edition.
Apparently a Capcom employee took to Reddit to confirm there were no microtransactions in the game, but that comment has since been deleted. Nevertheless, the only DLC Capcom has mentioned has been the Deluxe Edition content, and as far as we're aware, there are no "microtransactions" beyond those items available.
