The Resident Evil 2 Remake is out now and it's already one of the best games of the year, and so a lot of players are probably hoping to extend their time with the game with Resident Evil 2 Remake DLC.
What DLC is available now for the Resident Evil 2 Remake? What DLC has been announced or is coming soon for the game? Is there any free DLC? How about paid expansions? We've got a tidy list below, which we'll keep updated.
Resident Evil 2 Remake DLC - The Ghost Survivors
The biggest DLC update for the game is coming on February 15, and it's titled The Ghost Survivors. This will be a free DLC update for Resident Evil 2, and it will follow three new playable characters in new stories that run alongside Leon and Claire's adventure. These three new characters are gunshop owner Kendo, the mayor's daughter Katherine Warren, and a soldier from the Umbrella Secret Service. If you've played the game you'll know that each of these characters shows up in some way, but Capcom are describing these stories as "what if" stories, so may not be canon. Still, it's pretty cool that such a DLC is free.

Resident Evil 2 Remake DLC - PS1 Classic Skins
Another piece of free DLC already announced is the classic PS1-era original skins for Leon and Claire. Not to be confused with the classic costumes that are already in the game, which are the original Resident Evil 2 outfits but done in a modern style, this DLC will turn both Leon and Claire into their blocky PS1-era models from the original game. It'll be similar to Lara Croft's PS1 outfits in Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and will just be a bit of fun.
Resident Evil 2 Remake DLC - Samurai Edge Handgun
The Samurai Edge Handgun is one of the most powerful handguns in the game, and it looks pretty cool too, as a neat throwback to the original Resident Evil. Right now the Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine models are not available as DLC, and were only a pre-order bonus. However, the Albert Wesker Samurai Edge DLC is available as paid DLC for £1.69/$1.99 - or as part of the Deluxe Edition (see below).
Resident Evil 2 Remake DLC - Deluxe Edition Costumes and Soundtrack
Currently the only paid DLC content from Resident Evil 2 Remake is the content available as part of the game's Deluxe Edition. We've already mentioned the Samurai Edge handgun, but additionally there are the following costumes available for £2.50/$2.99 each:
- Leon Costume: Arklay Sheriff
- Leon Costume: Noir - Also comes with a black & white screen filter.
- Claire Costume: Noir - Also comes with a black & white screen filter.
- Claire Costume: Military
- Claire Costume: Elza Walker
</ul>
Also for £2.50/$2.99 is the Resident Evil 2 Original Soundtrack Swap, which allows you to swap the new soundtrack for the iconic classic soundtrack from the original 1998 game. Strictly speaking none of these are microtransactions since they are all available for one purchase in the Deluxe Edition.
Resident Evil 2 Remake DLC - Future Expansions
At the moment The Ghost Survivors is the most recent DLC announced by Capcom for Resident Evil 2 Remake, however there is absolutely no reason to assume why they would stop at that. Resident Evil 2 Remake has been an enormous sales success, so Capcom may want to follow it up with an expansion - perhaps following Ada Wong or Annette Birkin. Whether that'll be paid is another matter.
Alternatively, they may instead go straight into making Resident Evil 3 Nemesis Remake...
