The Resident Evil 2 Remake is out now and it's already one of the best games of 2019, but it's also an intensely creepy experience with puzzles to solve - and sometimes the two combine. One such area is the Resident Evil 2 Remake Morgue, a place you have to visit but you really, really don't want to.
Here's what you need to do in the Morgue, what's in every single drawer, what you need to get, and what's going to happen when you visit the Morgue. Most importantly - here's how and where to get the Diamond Key.
What to do in the Resident Evil 2 Remake Morgue - and get the Diamond Key
The Resident Evil 2 Remake Morgue is located in the very bottom-right corner of the Basement 1 Floor map of the RPD building, the same level as the Parking Garage, and just next to the Kennel and the Generator Room. You'll head there just after you meet Ada Wong for the first time, not to mention the Zombie Dogs.
Why do you need to enter the Morgue? It seems the worst place you could possibly go during a zombie outbreak, but unfortunately that's where you'll find the Diamond Key, one of the most important items in the game - and the only way to escape from the Basement area and get back to the RPD.
When you enter the Morgue you won't find any zombies, so you can explore in peace. Note the dead body by the door however, and the document. There are six drawers on each side of the room (although one is missing), which normally contain dead bodies, and you can pull them all out. Obviously, there's going to be something nasty in more than one.
Hint: You don't have to pull the drawers out all the way the first time. Some of the drawers will only pull out a little bit and the door won't raise. Just keep pulling every drawer until it sticks - or you see a dead body. If you see the feet of a body, stop pulling. Only three drawers have bodies inside, so you can leave them until last.
More helpfully, here's what's in every drawer! Starting from the furthest drawer from the entrance, which is the left side wall - the same wall as the missing drawer. Here's what's in all of them:
LEFT SIDE DRAWERS (from the left wall)
Empty - Dead Body with Diamond Key - Missing - Empty - Dead Body Making Noise (no items) - Empty
RIGHT SIDE DRAWERS (from the left, starting opposite the door)
Dead Body with Flash Grenade - Empty - Empty - Cockroaches (no threat) - Red Herb - Empty
As soon as you pick up the Diamond Key, the dead body in that drawer and the one by the door will come to life immediately. If you leave that until last you may be able to get to the door without having to kill the zombies. The one by the door is the biggest problem in that regard, so you may have to at least stun him or shoot him once.
Congratulations, you've got the Diamond Key! That wasn't so bad, was it?
